Jack Vidgen LIVE- Inspire

Jack Vidgen Capella Cultural Centre Thursday 13th September 8pm Adults: $37.50 Child under 15 years $30.00 To Book your tickets. Ph. (07) 49849300 Or E-mail Culturalcentre@bigpond.com

Sony Music Australia is pleased to announce the release of the highly anticipated second album Inspire from Jack Vidgen set to be released April 27.
It has only been eight months since Jack released his Gold selling debut album Yes I am and now his second album, Inspire – is a true joy.
The changes are clear – his voice is several notches deeper after finally breaking (“when that happened I was glad the transition only lasted a week”), the timbre now sits comfortably in line with someone who has turned 15. Yes, a maturity well beyond his years, and still only 15.
But his voice remains unmistakable Jack Vidgen: soaring through the high notes with ease, the ability to move to tears with his delivery, and exuding a confidence that belies his age.
Since he first astonished the Australian public with his heart-wrenching rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing at age 14 and taking out the crown of Australia’s Got Talent, which has had in excess of 1.5 million views worldwide on You Tube, his name has been followed by hugely flattering superlatives. In October 2011, he received standing ovations when he travelled to United States to be a part of the America’s Got Talent live shows at Caesars Palace. Jack also wowed the crowds in LA, New York and Houston at the G’day USA Gala Events last year.
Now Jack is set to release his second Inspire the words of praise are set to be taken to a whole new level.
Jack was passionate about the song’s that made the cut, the message of his second album, and what he wanted to get across.
“I really wanted to do another album since the start of this year, but I didn’t quite know what kind of album I wanted to do. Then I came up with the idea that I wanted to have an album of songs which are inspirational and uplifting, and have a soulful and gospel feel to it. Even if the songs originally didn’t have that feel, I wanted to add that to them – whether that was through the music or with my vocals. Because that’s the sort of style I really love.”
For someone who sees Aretha Franklin as one of the all-time greats, even including her track Think on his first album, it makes complete sense that this is the direction he should want to go.
For Jack’s devoted fans, there is no doubt they will grow to know and love his renditions of the timeless classics on Inspire.
But what of his new slew of fans certain to join in the adoration of this gifted young man’s voice? What does he hope they will get from this album?
“I hope that if people are going through a rough time and listen to my album it will help them through. That’s another reason I wanted to make this album: for people who are going through rough times. I hope it moves them when they listen to it.
“I think people will feel uplifted and happier and will feel something when they listen to it.
His memorable, moving dulcet tones will see to that.
To celebrate the release of his new album Jack will embark on a run of tour dates

The Drifters are an on going musical institution since 1952. In the history of popular music there area few vocal groups who qualify as members of the ROCK'N'ROLL HALL OF FAME. THE DRIFTERS are one of those groups.
For the past 50 years The Drifters have maintained a reputation as one of the world's finest vocal groups. The Drifters linked '50s R&B with '60s soul and epitomised the vocal- group sound of New York.

The material The Drifters recorded came from a variety of sources, including the song writing teams of JERRY LEIBER and MIKE STOLLER, DOC POMUS and MORT SHUMAN, and GERRY GOFFIN and CAROLE KING. The name of the group was chosen by CLYDE McPHATTER, the first singer in a long line of lead voices, and he could not have chosen a better name.

Many members drifted in and out of the band since its beginnings and still do. Even now family names and court cases continue to hit the headlines.

McPhatter and BEN E King are just some of the great singers who have passed through the group. Today at the age of 72, BILLY WASHINGTON leads the group that has continually toured Australia, New Zealand , Malaysia, Japan , Thailand, China etc - and the list goes on.

First auditioned by Clyde McPHATTER when Billy was 13, Billy has continued under the Drifters Banner for some 50 odd years.

With Washington is WAYNE FOSTER, who has been with The Drifters for 35 years, and newest member PATRICK JACKSON, who spent the early part of his career performing with THE COASTERS .Backed by an all-star band, The Drifters recreate the memories that have produced four decades of hits.
The Drifters' classic back catalogue includes Under the Boardwalk, Save the Last Dance for Me, Kissing in the Back Row, Like Sister and Brother, Spanish Harlem, This Magic Moment, Up on the Roof, There Goes My Baby and On Broadway.

We hope you come and enjoy the show and judge for yourself!

TIME OUT

Katherine Thomson potent play is a heroic... howl for justice in the workforce. Diving for Pearls gives hope to the Australian Theatre
The Mail

Katherine Thomson’s Diving for Pearls dramatically records the moment Australia joined the vast world of globalised economics in the 1980s and the consequences for the lives of working men and women.

The story is set in an industrialised coastal city on the cusp of this change and the response of a couple at the prime of their life – the feisty, irrepressible Barbara and her would-be boyfriend, the retiring but stubborn Den. Their lives are further complicated by the arrival of Barbara’s simple daughter Verge, her snobbish sister Marj and Den’s upwardly mobile brother-in-law Ron.

Given the desperate nature of the characters’ circumstances Diving for Pearls is often dramatic, involving and moving, but tempered by a wry, sometimes hilarious and very Australian sense of humour.
