One of Australia & rsquo's finest Spanish Guitarists, Andrew Veivers draws on a wide range of musical influences to evoke the sensual and mesmerising sounds of the Spanish guitar in all of its guises.

From the beginning, Andrew combined the traditional study of flamenco with the formal training of the classical guitar. After graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 1993 from the University of Queensland (St. Lucia) Andrew spent 3 years studying, teaching and performing in London, Madrid and Amsterdam.

At venues ranging from Blenhiem Palace (UK) to The Dillington Classical Guitar Festival (UK) to chamber music series’ in Amsterdam to concerts at many of Australia’s leading festivals, Andrew has appeared as a soloist as well as with his various groups (Flamenco Fire, The Saruzu Quartet, Jaleos Flamenco) to great critical acclaim.

“This guy can really play….Andrew Veivers must eat gypsy hearts for breakfast.” …Lulo Reinhardt, Joes Waterhole, 12th September 2009

“Andrew Veivers is an Australian with a flamenco soul.” …Olivia Stewart, Courier Mail, 5th September 2009

Alongside his performance schedule Andrew has continued his dedication to the teaching of the Spanish Guitar. After being on the teaching staff for many years at the Classical Guitar School in Brisbane and The Spanish Guitar Centre in London, Andrew opened The Spanish Guitar Studio in Brisbane in 1997. Now in its 13th year of operation, The Spanish Guitar Studio has teaching studios in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Andrew launched his teaching manual and DVD – The Rhythm Method: An Introduction to Flamenco Guitar in December 2010 at the Woodford Folk Festival.

Andrew’s solo debut recording – Jaleos – was awarded Best Album (Folk, Ethnic and Other) at the Queensland Recording Association’s Sunnie Awards. In 2006, one of Andrew’s compositions – Guarijas - was a finalist in the Queensland Song Awards World and Folk category.

Andrew’s current ensembles include Australia’s only national flamenco touring company – Flamenco Fire and flamenco-tango-jazz band – The Saruzu Quartet. Andrew has also been a special guest guitarist in the Doch Gypsy Orchestra since 2002.

Andrew created the Flamenco Fire concept in 1999 and has continued to focus on the creative development of the production since its inception. Andrew’s vision for Flamenco Fire has been instrumental in the creative growth of the production. With the support of the Australia Council for the Arts, Flamenco Fire’s 2010 production – Al-Andaluz – was his first commissioned work.

Andrew Horabin is a state and national award-winning singer/songwriter with a one man comedy musical that asks, What’s a man gotta do to be a man in your town? In his hilarious show, Andrew uses comedy, song and storytelling to explore some of the issues of masculinity - sex, work, marriage, mate ship, intimacy, fathering, feelings, booze, homophobia and attachments to motor vehicles. Our story begins when Adam's Buck's Party collides with Lucy's Hens in the street. Lucy declares that he'll never grow up. Adam protests. She gives him 24 hours to prove he's a man - or the weddings off! Muzza and Gazza are not much help. They tell him she's just a sheila and sheilas change their minds. But she's not changing it back. And the hour of the wedding is fast approaching, leaving Adam asking "What's a man gotta do to be a man?" With no formal initiation or rites of passage, these three young blokes must forge their own path into manhood. The audience helps, with their own ideas of how to become a man, but will it be enough? How lost will they get on the journey? What risks do they take in trying to initiate themselves? And will they make it back in time? Seriously funny, moving and true, Adam's story will have your audience asking what it means to be a man in your town - and how they might help the boys to get there. The themes are serious. The show is a hilarious musical comedy. The combination is powerful. “What a mans gotta do” is a hilarious one man comedy show by Andrew Horabin. When Adam’s fiancé calls off the wedding, ha begs for a second chance. She gives him 24 hours- prove you're a man by tomorrow night or it's over. What's he gonna do? What's a man gotta do to be a man????

American Pie Reunion

American Pie Reunion

Friday 18th 7.30pm
Saturday 19th 7.30pm
Sunday - No movie

In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago return to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn't and that time and distance can't break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler's mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about-and get inspired by-the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend. -- (C) Universal
