| International acts, big name entertainers, ballet, rock bands, eisteddfods, the latest release movies and more! They all visit Capella and perform in the very well-appointed Capella Cultural Centre. Capella sits in the centre of the Central Highlands arts catchment of some 35,000 people. The Capella Cultural Centre is the hub of a lively cultural scene that caters for all forms of visual and performing arts. Since its opening in 1993, the Centre has hosted a wide range of acts including Carl Barron, Graeme Connors, Bud Tingwell, Adam Brand, Beccy Cole, Spanish Dancing Horses, the Russian Cossack Dancers, Queensland Ballet, Theatrefest, Russell Crowe and Lee Kernaghan. The Centre also hosts larger venue concerts and events at the Capella Covered Arena. Midnight Oil, INXS, Grinspoon, Shannon Noll, Human Nature, Jimmy Barnes and more have all rocked the roof here. The Cultural Centre features a 500 seat auditorium with stage and cinema, a 120 seat function room, a commercial kitchen that can cater for up to 600, 50 metres of picture hanging rail in the foyer/gallery, two bars, a candy bar and a box office. The Centre is also the ideal venue for balls, weddings, meetings, conventions and conferences. Our resident Chef offers a range of ever changing menus for your selection. The local community (including a ‘Friends of the Theatre’ group) is very supportive of visiting artists and cultural events. |
